Large Group Rentals in Bellaire, MI (Sleeps 12 to 16+)

Big groups are hard to house. Plenty of rentals claim to sleep 16, then put half the adults on pull-out sofas. When we set up our larger homes, the goal was simple: everyone gets a real bed, and there's somewhere for the group to spread out.

Overlook Bellaire: sleeps 16

Overlook is our largest home and the easiest choice for a group of 12 to 16. It has five bedrooms and 3.5 baths: four private king bedrooms (three on the main floor and one on the lower level) and a bunk room with four queen beds that sleeps eight, kids or adults.

It works for four couples, or two or three families. The main floor has a dining table for 10 plus four seats at the kitchen island. The walkout lower level is a second living area with a kitchenette, pool table, game table and arcade. Outside: a hot tub, sauna and cold plunge, all facing Intermediate Lake.

Alm Haus: sleeps 12

Alm Haus sleeps 12 across four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a king suite, a private queen room and a bunk room with three queen beds. It's a great fit for two families, especially with kids, since the whole top floor is set up for them.

Groups bigger than 16

For a reunion or wedding party, book two homes. Alm Haus and Northwoods Treehaus are both near Schuss Mountain, each about five minutes from the slopes, so together they sleep 21. Overlook plus Alm Haus sleeps 28.

Tips for planning a group trip to Bellaire

• Lock dates early. Summer weekends and ski holidays book months ahead.
• Plan one big group meal. Both Overlook and Alm Haus have kitchens set up to cook for the whole crew.
• Split up for activities. Golf at Shanty Creek, a boat day on Torch Lake, or a walk around downtown Bellaire all work well in smaller groups.
